Meet the Terrific Teachers
Ms. Katz 1-01:would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to a new year at Peabody Elementary. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the coming year, which promises to bring with it, many new experiences and challenges. In order to make the year a successful one, teamwork and cooperation will be required by all. I look forward to working in partnership and I am confident that together, we can provide the support and encouragement needed to help your child excel. If you have any questions now or at any time in the future, don’t hesitate to contact me.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University majoring in Speech, Hearing, and Language Therapy. I furthered my education and was awarded a Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis. I loved learning, so I continued my professional development thirty hours above my Masters Degree. Lastly, I challenged myself and became certified as a National Board Teacher in 2007.
I bring 36 years of educational experience to my profession. I have worked with students with speech and language challenges. I was employed as the Director of a Sylvan Learning Center and served students from ages 5 – 18 and adults. I served as an instructional and administrative leader under the Superintendent’s leadership supporting 45 elementary schools in the former Memphis City Schools. I have taught first grade for 20+ years.
As you can see, I am a continuous learner and I am still growing and changing each year to improve and add to my instructional knowledge and practice to be the best that I can be for your child!
I am married and have two wonderful daughters, ages 22 and 19. My house is filled with a cat, a dog, fish, and lots of love.
Ms. Johnson 1-02:
My name is Rachel Johnson and I am so excited to be apart of the Peabody family this year! I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Martin(go Skyhawks!). This will be my third year teaching in Shelby County Schools. I have taught third grade and first grade. I do not have any children of my own, but will look out for all of the children in my class as if they were my own. I am so excited to grow with your student and get to know each of my awesome parents.
Ms. Shannon 1-03:
Ms.Shannon is a second year teacher at Peabody Elementary. Last year, she was honored to teach second grade alongside her fellow colleagues. Ms.Shannon graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2016. She is a loving mom of a 3-year and an even better educator. Ms.Shannon is eager to meet all the shinning new faces that walk through Peabody Elementary’s door. Her favorite quote is “Walk by faith, and not by sight”.
